Montana PSC Helping NWE Customers Resolve Energy Bill Spike

Media Advisory: Montana PSC Helping NWE Customers Resolve Energy Bill Spike

HELENA, Montana — The Montana Public Service Commission (“Commission”) is aware some NorthWestern Energy (NWE) customers are experiencing a significant increase on their August billing statements.

Hundreds of NWE customers are expressing confusion about recent increases in their energy bill. Many have reached out to the Consumer Affairs unit at the Montana PSC for help.

The Commission’s Department of Public Service Regulation (DPSR) are actively working with NWE to investigate the cause of the increased energy bills.

To help the DPSR fully understand the depth of this situation, customers seeing spikes on their bill are kindly asked to:

  • contact the DPSR via e-mail at pschelp@mt.gov.
  • provide account holder name and service address;
  • scan and forward the front and back of the NWE bill; and,
  • submit any other relevant documentation.

Once received, our team will contact NWE regarding each specific case, and forward all submitted documentation as part of the DPSR’s ongoing efforts to help resolve the matter.

The Commission regulates private investor-owned natural gas, electric, telephone, water, and sewer companies, certain motor carriers, and oversees natural gas pipeline safety and intrastate railroad safety. The Commission works to ensure that Montanans receive safe and reliable service from regulated public utilities while paying reasonable rates. For more information, visit psc.mt.gov or contact the Commission at 1-800-646-6150.  Follow the Commission at Twitter.com/@MT_PSC or visit Facebook.com/MontanaPSC.
